WeJourney was initiated from a shared commitment to understanding how women’s working lives unfold across the Middle East — a region where global ideals of equality and local cultural values continuously intersect. Led by Claudia Eger (Principal Investigator) at Copenhagen Business School, and supported by the Carlsberg Foundation, the project brings together an international team of researchers, including Tamer Koburtay (postdoc) and PhD researcher Ladyane Souza, with contributions from regional collaborator Liela Jamjoom.
WeJourney evolved into a three-pillar initiative exploring (1) the development of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Arab and Muslim-majority contexts, (2) DEI practices in Danish multinational enterprises operating in Saudi Arabia, and (3) women’s participation and leadership in family-owned businesses.
Through interviews, fieldwork, and close collaboration with local and international partners, our story continues to grow — uncovering women’s voices, highlighting everyday challenges and triumphs, and contributing to a deeper understanding of what inclusive work means in the Middle East today.
